Boathouse XVI is home to both the Clare College and Clare Hall Boat Clubs.
This turn of the century Arts and Crafts era boathouse is possibly one of the prettiest on the River Cam. We wanted to highlight the whiteness of its beautiful wooden full width balcony and big doors, and Sara included a group of passing swans to help us do just that. Naomi’s eye for architectural detail was perfect for the intricacies of the deeply overhung roof, the chimney stacks, and the brickwork. The depth of the roof and the shadow it casts makes the white balustrade stand out even more.
This is one of a series of images of the wonderfully eclectic and iconic series of boathouses that are found along the River Cam.
