Boathouse XIII: Jesus and Newnham

Boathouse XIII

A combination of photograph and painting to showcase the beauty of the Cambridge boathouses.

Boathouse XIII was built in 1932 and is home to the Jesus College and Newnham College Boat Clubs.

Sara’s photographed the feeling of the warm sun on the timbered frontage of this beautiful Arts and Crafts building, and the jewel-like reflections of the turquoise sky in the upper storey windows. As Naomi studied at Jesus, she was keen to paint the clocktower with the iconic Jesus rooster and the red and black doors. The exquisite reclaimed roof was an ideal candidate for Naomi’s detailed watercolour treatment.

This is one of a series of images of the wonderfully eclectic and iconic series of boathouses that are found along the River Cam.
